Director of Development
At the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children (BBF) we believe that child abuse can be prevented through effectively educating adults and children, developing the next generation of child welfare professionals, and strengthening child protection laws around the country. We believe, as Beau did, that no child should be threatened by a predator and that child abuse is preventable. The best way to prevent child abuse is to educate adults and children.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our organization as a fundraising/development manager. A career with the BBF will allow you to work with nationally recognized child protection specialists and most importantly, protect children.
What You’ll Do
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Development to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and executing innovative fundraising strategies that align with our mission, ensuring sustainable financial support for our programs and initiatives.
You will work closely with various stakeholders, including existing and potential donors, community partners, and internal teams to cultivate relationships and drive funding opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising while cultivating and stewarding major gifts plans that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Implement mission specific donation campaigns that include written appeals, e- campaigns and targeted solicitations.
- Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with potential donors and funding sources including securing major gifts.
- Contribute to grant writing efforts, including researching funding opportunities, writing proposals, and ensuring compliance with all funding requirements.
- Manage and oversee fundraising events, including planning, logistics, and donor engagement strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate fundraising initiatives, providing regular reports on progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align fundraising efforts with marketing and communication strategies.
- Advocate for the organization in community settings and represent the Beau Biden Foundation at relevant events and meetings.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, or related fields with a proven track record of success
- Strong understanding of fundraising strategies, donor engagement, and community outreach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with varied audiences
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Experience working in the nonprofit sector or with mission-driven organizations
- Familiarity with donor management software and fundraising analytics tools
- Proven ability to engage with high-net-worth individuals and corporate sponsors
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in M365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with donor management systems such as Bloomerang, or similar platforms
- Ability to analyze and interpret fundraising data to inform strategies and decision-making

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package including:
Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000

Location
This is a hybrid position. Monday and Friday are remote. Tuesday through Thursday are in the Foundation offices located at 4601 Concord Pike, Wilmington DE, 19803.
